OCZ ATV Turbo 4GB
I’ve been having some fun with my OCZ ATV Turbo and I figured I’ll give everyone an inside look at my progress. My full review, which will be published at Overclockers Online, is nearly complete. I’ve subjected the ATV Turbo to some extreme conditions and it’s worked flawlessly. Here’s a summary of what you’ll see in my upcoming review. Just for fun, I put the drive in a container of water and let it freeze overnight.
After that, I tried setting it on fire with isopropyl alcohol which didn’t work so I ended up putting it in my toaster to “dry off”.
After all that effort, there wasn’t any physical damage to the drive. It continued to work perfectly – writing at around 22-23MB/s and reading at 33MB/s.
From a personal perspective, the biggest disappointed was the way the drive looks. The bold yellow and black ribs gives it a rugged by amateur look. I would have preferred a clean simple black drive that doesn’t stand out as much. Even the regular ATV’s look a little nicer with it’s black and blue body. I still think the Rally and Rally2 drives physically looked nicer, that and they were much smaller. I had the opportunity of owning both. My 2GB Rally stopped being detected in Windows so I sent it for replacement thanks to OCZ’s lifetime warranty and I lost my Rally2 at school. As a final note, the ATV Turbo also has a lifetime warranty and both the ATV and ATV Turbo check in at 8cm long, 2cm wide and 0.9cm tall.
You can expect my full review near the end of 2007 or very early in 2008.
