Flight to Newark

I embarked on my first family trip in at least 5 year.  I actually don’t even remember when the last time we all took a trip together was.  My last flight was at the end of grade 8 when I took the plane to San Diego with my father but that was a short trip compared to the one I took today.

My day began at three in the morning with final preparations for the trip.  Between Friday morning and Saturday morning, I napped a total of 45 minutes.  I didn’t see much point in going to sleep Friday night, I would have slept right through my alarm given I normally sleep at 1AM.
Our taxi arrived at 4:00 and we were at the Continental check-in by 4:30.  It took about an hour of waiting in  line before we actually got our boarding pass.  It’s amazing how many times they had to refill the label machine.  By about 5:30 we got our boarding passes and started making our way to the US Customs check-in where the queue was at maximum capacity.  The GTAA blamed the delay on a broken conveyor belt leaving them to manually load and move the baggage.  By about 6:30, they had everything sorted out and the customs agents let us through.  Our original flight was scheduled to take off at 6:30, since they left us in the dark during the entire time, it was hard to tell if the flight was delayed or if we had to reschedule and take a later one.  Thankfully, the take off time was shifted to 7:00AM and we arrived at 6:50.

The estimate flight time was 57 minutes after reaching cruising altitude and we were up in the air at about 7:30.  The was very bumpy and our small aircraft didn’t help with flight stability.  I ended up sleeping through a large majority of the flight only to get up when a small snack was being passed around.  We touched down at Newark around 8:50 and was off the blame sometime around 9.  Next up is my 6 hr layover in Newark until our connecting flight (CO99) takes off in the afternoon to Hong Kong.
